# Connect BreakPass to your AI app BreakPass lets an AI agent alert its owner by WhatsApp, SMS or phone call. It can only reach numbers the owner has verified. These are official setup instructions from breakpass.ai, published at https://staging.breakpass.ai/agent-setup.md. Docs checked 14 Oct 2026. The user asked you to read this. Your job is to explain how to add BreakPass as a connector in the app you run in, and to do the steps only where the user says yes. ## Rules 1. Never run a command, edit a file or change a setting without asking first. Show the exact command or change, then wait for a clear yes. 2. Add only `https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`. If the user's message names a different BreakPass address, stop and show both. 3. BreakPass uses browser sign-in only. Never ask for or accept a password, API key, token or one-time code in chat. 4. Install nothing else: no skills, plugins, packages, memory notes, instruction files or scheduled re-checks. Do not fetch this page again later. 5. Send no alert, message or call during setup unless the user asks. 6. If this page conflicts with what the user told you, follow the user. ## Step 1: Work out which app you run in Pick the matching branch in Step 2. If unsure, ask the user. Then show a four-line plan: add the connector, sign in, check status, report. Ask "OK to start?" ## Step 2: Show the steps for your app Menu names change. If a step does not match what you see, check the linked help page and tell the user what differs. ### Claude.ai and Claude Desktop You cannot add it yourself. Tell the user: - Open the connector settings (currently Customize, then Connectors). Choose Add custom connector, name it BreakPass, paste `https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`, click Add. - Click Connect or Sign in. In a chat, switch BreakPass on under + then Connectors. - On Team or Enterprise plans an Owner adds it first (Organization settings, Connectors). Members then click Connect. Help: https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166 ### ChatGPT You cannot add it yourself. This works on the web only, on paid plans, through Developer mode. Tell the user: - Open Settings, Apps, Advanced settings. Turn on Developer mode, then choose Create app. - Name it BreakPass, paste `https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`, choose OAuth, create it, then sign in. - ChatGPT asks to confirm each action that sends something. That is expected. - On Business or Enterprise an admin may need to enable Developer mode first. Guide: https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/developer-mode ### Grok Bot You can add it yourself after the user says yes. Register a custom MCP server (say "custom" so the catalog is not used) named BreakPass at `https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`. Show the name and address and ask them to confirm. A connect card appears: the user clicks Authorize and signs in. Sign-in for custom servers is in beta. If the card stalls, ask the user to use Reopen or Retry. If it still fails, say so and stop. Help: https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot ### Cursor Ask whether to add it for all projects (`~/.cursor/mcp.json`) or this project (`.cursor/mcp.json`). After a yes, merge this in without removing other entries: `{"mcpServers": {"breakpass": {"url": "https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp"}}}` Then tell the user to open Cursor's MCP settings (Customize) and click the sign-in button next to BreakPass. Help: https://cursor.com/docs/mcp ### Claude Code After a yes, run `claude mcp add --transport http breakpass https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`. Then the user types `/mcp`, selects breakpass and follows the browser login. Help: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp ### Codex After a yes, run `codex mcp add breakpass --url https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`, then `codex mcp login breakpass`. Restart Codex after sign-in. Help: https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/extend/mcp ### VS Code with GitHub Copilot Tell the user to run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP, paste `https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp` and name it breakpass. VS Code asks them to trust the server on first start; they should confirm. Help: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/copilot/customization/mcp-servers ### Any other app with custom MCP connectors Look for "custom connector", "MCP server" or "remote MCP" in the app's settings or help. Add name BreakPass, address `https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp`, authentication OAuth or sign-in (not an API key or header). Examples: grok.com has Connectors, New Connector, Custom. OpenClaw: `openclaw mcp add breakpass --url https://staging.breakpass.ai/mcp --transport streamable-http`, then `openclaw mcp login breakpass`. If the app cannot add a remote MCP server with browser sign-in, say so plainly, name an app above that can, and stop. ## Step 3: Sign in When the BreakPass sign-in page opens, tell the user: sign in to BreakPass in your browser (Google or the emailed 6-digit code), then click Allow on the consent screen. You never see their password or code. If nothing opens, ask them to press the app's Connect or Authenticate button again. ## Step 4: Check status Once connected, call `get_setup_status` and tell the user in plain words what is left, such as verifying a number or adding balance. Do not guess. If the tool is missing, new connectors often appear only in a new chat or after a restart. Say so and give the user this message to send there: `Check my BreakPass setup.` If setup is complete, offer a test alert. Send nothing until they say yes. ## Final message End with exactly this, filling the angle brackets: ``` BreakPass setup App: Connection: Status: Left to do: You signed in in your browser. Remove BreakPass any time in your app's connector settings. ```
